Adrenal Support

Description

High-quality, concentrated adrenal glandular support is boosted by powerful supportive herbs that synergistically contribute to the healthy maintenance of the adrenal glands.

Signs and Symptoms for Nutrient Applications

Stress and conditions caused by stress, fatigue, lethargy, weakness, mental fuzziness, irritability, inability to handle everyday tasks, low energy, allergies, tired all the time, environmental sensitivities, symptoms that begin after a stressful event, headache when standing up, dizziness and loss of vision when standing quickly, low blood pressure or systolic blood pressure that drops when standing, weak and shaky, sensitivity to bright light, easily startled or frightened, perfectionism, loud noises that cause the heart to pound, difficult time breathing, “lump in throat” that hurts when upset, chronically bad knees, weak ankles or aching calves, low back pain, salt craving, muscle twitches and arrhythmias from sodium/potassium imbalance. May also be beneficial in hypotension problems.

Clinical Applications/Research
Whole Adrenal and Cortex Adrenal

Glandulars are thought to provide precursor substances that the body can use to support and enhance the function of the targeted gland. Glandulars may provide the potential “life force” the body needs to enhance the function of a specific organ or gland. Glandulars are selected from freeze-dried, range grazed bovine sources. No hormones or chemicals are used in the cattle's feed. All glandulars, as well as all other nutrients, should be inspected by independent laboratory assays for contamination and purity.

Siberian Ginseng (Eleuthro Extract)

Siberian ginseng has been used traditionally to stimulate and nourish the adrenal glands, an important source of energy. Clinical trials involving over 2,000 subjects have shown that Siberian ginseng increases the ability of humans to withstand adverse physical conditions (such as heat, noise, motion, work load increase, and exercise), increases mental alertness and work output, and improves the quality of work produced under stressful conditions and athletic performance (Econ Med Plant Res. 1985;1:156-215). The effect on blood pressure is adaptogenic, as it will lower blood pressure if it is high, and will raise it if it is low. It’s effect on blood pressure may be related to its effect on kidney function. In a trial of hypotensive children 7-10 years old, Siberian ginseng significantly raised systolic and diastolic blood pressures and increased total peripheral resistance (Farmakol Toksikol (Russian) 1986;49:73). Siberian ginseng has an age old reputation as an aphrodisiac; its effect on overall health contributes to the requirements for proper sexual functioning. Siberian ginseng has been reported to have a favorable effect on the immune system. In a double-blind study, 36 subjects receiving Siberian ginseng demonstrated significant improvements in a variety of immune system parameters, such as increased helper T-cells, and increased natural killer cell activity (Arzneimittel-Forsch 1987;37:1193-1196). This effect on the immune system, plus the fact that Siberian ginseng nourishes the adrenal glands and boosts energy, could be helpful for use with chronic fatigue.

Ashwaganda

Ashwaganda, also known as Indian ginseng, has been used in Ayurvedic medicine as far back as 3000-4000 years ago. It is classed among the “rasayanas” (rejuvenative tonics), the most highly regarded of all medicinal substances in Ayurveda. Ashwaganda is considered an adaptogen that nourishes and strengthens the body. Ashwaganda has been shown to have a sedating effect on the body and helps to rebuild the digestive and nervous system. Ashwaganda is an excellent herbal for people who “are burning the candle at both ends” and need nutrients to repair and rebuild. Compounds known as withanolides are believed to be the active ingredient in ashwaganda. These molecules are steroidal in nature and resemble active constituents of Asian ginseng, known as ginsenosides. This gives ashwaganda anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic properties.

Cordyceps sinensis

Cordyceps is a micellium extract that is known for its rejuvenating properties. Cordyceps tonifies the essence, the deepest part of the kidney energy. Cordyceps is beneficial for liver and lung support.

Pantothenic acid

B vitamins are energy-producing vitamins that serve as precursors for vital energy/anti-stress glands, such as the adrenals and thyroid. Vitamin B-5, or pantothenic acid, functions as part of the molecule called coenzyme A or CoA. It is vital for optimal adrenal activity (including increasing production of cortisone and other adrenal hormones), is important for healthy skin and nerves, and supports the synthesis of acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter), fatty acids, cholesterol, steroids, and phospholipids. It is known as one of the main anti-stress vitamins and has been used successfully for many years to support individuals who are recovering after long periods of stress.

Contraindications/Toxicology
